South Africa, 7 Feb.: India’s pace spearhead Jhulan Goswami on Wednesday created another record when she became the first woman cricketer to take 200 wickets in One-Day Internationals (ODI). The 35-year-old achieved the feat when she took South Africa’s first wicket during the second ODI of the three-match series at the Diamond Oval in Kimberley. India won the 2nd ODI by a massive margin of 178 runs to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series. Smriti Mandhana had guided India to a powerful total of 302/3 with a brilliant 135. The hosts were chasing at 56 for no loss when opener Laura Wolvaardt was caught by wicketkeeper Sushma Verma off Goswami.

Behind Goswami is Cathryn Fitzpatrick of Australia with 180 scalps, who retired in 2007. Another Australian Lisa Sthalekar is third in the list with 146.

The next best Indian in the standings is Neetu David, who picked 141 wickets in a career spanning from 1995 to 2008. Goswami achieved the feat in her 166th ODI and has a career best of 6/31.
