Kathmandu. The movie ‘They: Elephants in the Fog,’ which was recommended from Nepal for the Oscars, will have screenings worldwide to raise support for the victims of the Bhotekoshi flood. The Cannes Film Festival ‘Un Certain Regard’ section Jury Prize-winning film ‘Elephants in the Fog’ will hold a special charity screening in France as part of its international journey to show solidarity with Nepal.
The producers of ‘Elephants in the Fog,’ along with the lead actress, Pushpa Thing, are from Nuwakot. The flood had also damaged producer Prachandman Shrestha’s house. Directed by Avinash Bikram Shah, the French release of the film starts on September 23. Before that, a special preview screening will be held on September 17 at UGC Les Halles in Paris. The screening, under the campaign ‘Solidarity with Nepal,’ will be attended by the director himself.
The revenue from this special screening received by the French distributor will be donated to the fund established by the Nepal government to help people affected by floods and natural disasters in Nepal. The Nepalese ambassador to France will also be present at this special screening. “We are in a campaign to come together and help from wherever we can,” said director Abhinash Bikram Shah, “From Paris as well, we are supporting those affected by the Vote Kosi flood through cinema screenings.”
Earlier, the team of the movie ‘Elephants in the Fog’ had organized a special screening in Kathmandu on Bhadra 17 to help flood victims in Nepal. All the proceeds from that screening were donated to the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund for flood relief and support.
The French team and distributor of the film are organizing this special screening to show solidarity with families affected by floods and natural disasters in various parts of Nepal. While the film is being screened in Nepal, efforts are also being made to gather support for Nepal abroad through the film. This movie is currently being screened in Nepal. It has received positive feedback from both audiences and critics.
The movie tells the story of a minority community living in a village terrorized by wild elephants, featuring performances by actors like Gauri Malla, Maotse Gurung, Pushpa Thing Lama, Deepika Yadav, Jasmin Bishwakarma, Eliz Ghimire, Mahima Navbag, and Akanksha Karki. The film was produced in collaboration with production houses from Nepal, France, Germany, and Norway.
The producers of the movie include Anup Paudel from Nepal, Justin Pechberty and Damien Megherbi from France, and Michael Henricks from Germany. Co-producers include Prachandman Shrestha, Tatiana Leite, Leonardo Mecki, Pal Zischler, Veronica Meyer Storm, Martin Rechbach, Susanne Mann, Kumudini Gurung Shrestha, and Soham Dhakal from Brazil. The associate producers of the movie, whose line producer is Charles Audinet, are actress Keki Adhikari, Pratik Subedi, and Pratibha Joshi. On behalf of Underground Tokiz Nepal, the co-producer is Pravesh Gurung, and the associate producers are Aditya Basnet, Anuj Paudyal, Santosh Bhattarai, and Benjamin Grubs.
