Kathmandu, 7 March : It is interesting note that, that the application of sindoor by married women carries a physiological significance. Modern sindoor uses vermilion which is the purified and powdered from of cinnabar the chief from in which mercury sulfide naturally occurs. In the past sindoor was prepared by mixing turmeric lime, other herbal ingredients and the metal mercury. Due to its intrinsic properties, mercury besides controlling blood pressure also activates sexual drive.
This also explains why sindoor is prohibited for the windos. For best result, sindoor should be applied right up to the pituitary gland where all our fellings are centered. Mercury is also known for removing strees and strain.Detechter
