Kathmandu : The Parliamentary Committee on Law, Justice and Human Rights has consulted with lawmakers who have registered amendment proposals concerning the Bill design to amend some Nepal Acts, 2075. The bill is aimed at amending some Nepal Acts in line with the Constitution of Nepal.
In today’s meeting of the Committee, President Krishna Bhakta Pokharel sought lawmakers’ active support to take the bill to its logical conclusion sooner since some preceding laws contrary to the constitution will have to be amended by March 5.
On the occasion, lawmaker Yesodha Subedi said that the local level should be given responsibility to implement the rights adding that some points of the bill seem ‘regressive’. “The format of discussions towards the bill seems rudderless. An umbrella act is needed to ensure uniformity in modus operandi of health academies established in the country,” she argued.
Likewise, another member Rekha Sharma said that need of the hour is not just the laws with different name but with substance.
Similarly, lawmaker Prem Suwal viewed that the act should ensure the provision to prevent the state-owned media houses from becoming the ruling parties’ cadres recruiting institutions; while suggesting to bring act to lure investments for development and expansion of energy sector.
Lawmakers have registered their individual and joint amendment motions on different acts including Development Committee Act, Immovable Property Act, Private Firm Registration Act, Statistics Act, Employees’ Provident Fund Act, Rastriya Samachar Samiti Act, among others. RSS
