Here, after meeting the Governor, Fadnavis said that the Mahavikas Aghadi insulted the mandate. There was corruption in this government. Two ministers of Maharashtra government are in jail. On the one hand, Balasaheb Thackeray opposed Dawood, on the other hand, the minister associated with Dawood was not expelled from the cabinet even after going to jail.
The decision to rename Aurangabad to Sambhajinagar was also taken when the government was about to leave. It doesn’t make any sense. This decision will have to be taken by the new government. Those who have lost to us have been taken into the government. That’s why these people decided that we have an alliance but not with Congress, NCP.
If Honorable Uddhavji resigns, the state needs to be given an alternative government. I have already said that an alternative government will come after the fall of the government. So today Shiv Sena’s Eknath Shinde faction, BJP and some smaller parties together decided to form the government. BJP has decided that we will give BJP support to Eknath Shinde. Eknath Shinde will take oath as CM today at 7 pm. I myself will be out of cabinet. Shinde has the support of Shiv Sena, BJP will also support him.
Why BJP handed over the chief minister’s post to Shinde?
After the 2019 elections, when the BJP could not stake claim to form the government despite becoming the single largest party, the party decided to make Ajit Pawar, who rebelled against the NCP, as the deputy CM. However, this tactic of the BJP failed. In such a situation, Eknath Shinde’s hand was already visible this time. The BJP has also been out of power for a long time, hence its claim to the post has been weak.
Since Eknath Shinde knew that he had the key to form the government. That’s why the BJP did not bargain much with him. Not only this, the BJP itself did not want to take the stigma of toppling this government through Operation Lotus. Fadnavis has been of the opinion that only if the BJP had come after winning the election itself, he would have become the CM. In such a situation, Uddhav handed over this post to Shindo as the Shinde faction remained heavy.
Now what is the role of former BJP chief minister Fadnavis?
It is possible that Devendra Fadnavis will play the same role in the alliance as Sharad Pawar was playing in the Maha Vikas Aghadi alliance. That is, they will take the big decisions of the government from behind the scenes. Political analysts also say that the credit for overturning the government will be given to Fadnavis. But due to the rebel faction becoming the key to power, Fadnavis should stay away from the post of CM for the time being.
