London . Team India trampled England by 10 wickets in the first match of the 3 ODI series. This is the first time in 48 years that India has defeated England by 10 wickets. India played an ODI for the first time in 1974 against the British. India won the toss and elected to bowl first and restricted England to 110 in 25.2 overs thanks to a career best performance by Jasprit Bumrah (19/6).
This is England’s lowest score against India so far. Bumrah also became the best Indian bowler to bowl in an ODI against England. He broke Ashish Nehra’s 19-year-old record. In the 2003 World Cup, Nehra took 6/23 against England. In reply, India won the match by scoring 114 runs in 18.4 overs. Rohit Sharma scored the highest unbeaten 76 runs in 58 balls. Shikhar Dhawan scored 31 runs in 54 balls. Rohit hit 7 fours and 5 sixes in his innings. His strike rate was 131.
