Private sector renders mixed reactions on budget

Kathmandu, May 29 : The budget for the fiscal year 2075-76 BS presented by Finance Minister Dr Yubaraj Khatiwada has received mixed reactions from private sector. Federation of Nepalese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) Chairperson Bhawani Rana commented the budget as positive for the promotion of production sector including agriculture. “I cannot make any remarks on the agenda of tax and customs which the private sector has been raising without detail study. But surprisingly, there is not budgetary allocation in a way to expand employment opportunities through industry sector”, she added.

Confederation of Nepal Industry (CNI) Chairperson Hari Bhakta Sharma said the budget unveiled by the stable government was expected to be epochal and ambitious but the budget was not manifested to that line.
“The budget speech has emphasized on job creation in rhetoric but it is not reflected in budgetary allocations. It is a continuation of the old budget”, he added.
FNCCI former Chairperson Chandi Prasad Dhakal said the budget does not have clear roadmap for the promotion of industries. Likewise, former general secretary of Nepal Chamber of Commerce, Kamalesh Kumar Agrawal, said ti is challenging to raise internal loan to run the programmes stipulated in the budget albeit the matter of incentive to investors is positive.RSS
