Madhav’s party has 55 central members to be added to the UML

Kathmandu. CPN-UML has decided to nominate 55 vacant central members from among the leaders of the then senior leader Madhav Nepal’s party. The posts are currently vacant in the CPN-UML after 55 members of the party’s 203-member central committee identified themselves on behalf of the CPN (Unified Socialist) before 2 June 2075 BS. UML has stated that the vacancies will be filled from among the leaders who were in the ideological group of the then Nepali side but are now open to the UML.

The recommendation of the 55 vacant central members will be made by the 10 standing committee members who have recently left the Nepal group and joined the UML. Vice-Chairman Bhim Rawal and Standing Committee Member Surendra Pandey have been given the responsibility of recommending 55 members. UML chairperson KP Oli said that he would fill the vacancies among those who had joined the Nepal group in the past but are now open to the UML.

According to UML office secretary, Sher Bahadur Tamang, the vacant members, and the 10 percent members to be nominated in the central committee as per the 10-point agreement will be decided before the assembly session. According to him, the party is preparing to nominate 75 people, including 55 who left the party before the assembly session and 20 candidates to be nominated, to the central committee before the assembly session. “Friends, you are discussing who will be taken to the center. The central committee will be completed soon,” Tamang told News Factory.

With the split of the UML, the leaders of both parties are competing to nominate the leaders of the other party to the Central Committee. The CPN (S) has also said that it will complete the Central Committee as soon as possible.

UML is also offering central membership to leaders who are not central members but have good influence within the party but are currently open in the CPN (S). CPN (S) leader Beduram Bhusal said that the central committee would be completed from the national gathering and claimed that most of the UML leaders would join their party from the gathering. “Many of our UML friends are coming with us. They are heavyweights in the central committee,” Bhusal said.
