Kathmandu. The Nepali Army has completed the installation of a Bailey bridge in the Devighat area of Nuwakot. The Army built this alternative bridge to restore transport connectivity in the region, which had been cut off after devastating floods washed away the permanent bridge on the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa.
A Nepali Army team worked continuously to complete the Bailey bridge installation within five days. The concrete bridge collapse disrupted transportation to Nuwakot and surrounding areas via Devighat.
With the installation of the Acrow bridge now complete, preparations are underway to open it to pedestrians starting tomorrow. Similarly, plans are being made to allow vehicular movement from the day after tomorrow. Local residents, traders, and travelers had been facing difficulties in commuting after the flood washed away the concrete bridge at Devighat.
The absence of a bridge had disrupted everything from the transportation of daily essentials to the regular movement of the general public.
To restore transport connectivity following the floods, the Nepali Army immediately initiated the installation of a Bailey bridge. Thanks to the Army team’s continuous round-the-clock efforts, the bridge was completed in a short span of time. With the bridge coming into operation, transportation services in the flood-affected Devighat area are expected to gradually return to normal. The operation of the bridge will provide significant relief to local residents, business owners, and travelers regarding movement.
