Kathmandu. Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has rejected the suggestion of the ruling coalition parties to hold a meeting of the House of Representatives with the main opposition party CPN-UML in confidence. Deputy leader of the parliamentary party Subash Chandra Nemwang said that the agenda of the House of Representatives meeting was made public at 11 am today without holding any dialogue and discussion with the opposition UML against the suggestion made by the ruling party.
“I heard the ruling party’s all-party meeting suggest that the opposition should also run the parliament in confidence, but he has not discussed it since then,” Nemwang said. According to him, an uneasy situation is being created in the House of Representatives as Speaker Sapkota has moved forward alone. UML has been angry with Speaker Sapkota for not posting notice of the party’s action to the then senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal and others.
Speaker Sapkota has been obstructing the parliament on the condition that the notice of resignation of 14 MPs including Madhav Nepal should be posted or else he should resign on the basis of morality. The Appropriation Bill was moved amidst tussle between the Speaker and the Opposition. Nemwang informed that his strong protest will continue even today.
