The Commission of Inquiry investigates the assets of KUKL Employees Union President Nawal Singh Saud

Kathmandu. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has started an investigation into Nawal Singh Saud, chairman of the Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL) employees’ union close to the CPN-UML. After the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority started investigating the money earned by KUKL through unnatural corruption, he has even tried to save it in various power centers.

Saud, who was technically the chairman of the workers’ union formed after the unification of the CPN-UML and the CPN-Maoist, had misused his position in the central store at Sundarighat and acquired material wealth under the pretext of flooding the Bagmati River. After that, Saud, who has been the head of stores and purchases continuously, threatened to beat up the CEO if he could not find a place to earn money.

Even when he was the head of procurement in Jawalakhel, Saud had earned illegal money by selling old pipes and fittings of KUKL to a contractor. He has made Uma Upreti the store chief to hide his deeds and has become the procurement and administration chief of Mahankal Chaur. After Uma was transferred from Jaulakhel to Tripushwor, the relationship between Saud and the chief executive officer of KUKL had soured. It is understood that Ego Sandher Saud is playing the role of a movement by tempting five unions including himself.

Employees have complained that Saud has blocked the movement to cover up his weaknesses, even though the state has banned activities such as agitations and strikes in sensitive areas such as drinking water. He had threatened the editors of some online magazines by rounding up those who run a loyalty union in KUKL to cover up corruption. Yagya Dhakal, the editor of the Nepali Janata online news portal, was attacked while reporting on the union movement.
It is understood that a complaint was lodged against him at the Asset Laundering Department. The Kathmandu branch of the Federation of Nepali Journalists has also demanded action against Saud.
