Kathmandu. Former General Secretary and leader of the Nepali Congress, Prakash Man Singh, has said that he will be the candidate for the post of party president in the upcoming 14th general convention of the party. Speaking at a congratulatory program organized by the Congress Nagarjuna Municipal Committee today, Singh said that he would rise to the post of chairperson at the convention.
Saying that he did not get up at the 13th General Convention of 2072 BS and helped Ram Chandra Poudel and Shashank Koirala, Singh said, “Who has become the party president from Kathmandu till now? Should we always carry only the bags of others?”
He said that there was a tendency among the leaders to compete for the post but did not work after getting the post. He said that Chairman Sher Bahadur Deuba could not work after reaching the post. “Look at the current chairman, he could not form the department even for four years,” he said.
Stating that the party should be institutionalized, pointing out that there are factions in the Congress, he said that the Nepali Congresspeople are looking for ‘A Congress, B Congress and C Congress’. Singh said that he would come after the 14th general convention of the Nepali Congress as sought by the leader.
Asking himself to help the president, he said, “Is sacrifice just a sacrifice?” In the 13th General Convention, I have left Ram Chandra Poudel, ‘he said,’ I have won the General Secretary first. I was the proposer of Shashank Koirala at that time that BP’s son would become the general secretary. ‘
He said that he was told by the leaders and cadres to move forward. “I am told by Ganeshman’s son that the party has done well,” he said. “We have to preserve democracy.” The party had to be institutionalized. It means helping the people. I don’t want to make money by reaching the post. ‘
He said that leaders from outside Kathmandu have been the party president for so many years and this time Kathmandu should be allowed to lead. “It is the turn of Kathmandu to lead outside Kathmandu for so many years,” he said.
