Establishment of office of the Chief Electoral Officer in the House of Assembly, nomination registration of candidates on 11th and 12th of Baishakh

Kathmandu. The office of the Chief Electoral Officer of Kathmandu District has been established at the shabhagirh at Bhrikutimanda today. Chief Election Officer Raju Kumar Khatiwada and Chief District Officer Govinda Prasad Rijal inaugurated the office.

Speaking after the inauguration of the office, the Chief Electoral Officer responded that the program of local election 2079 has been formally started. The election program of Kathmandu Metropolitan City will be conducted from the office here. Offices of Election Officers have been established in other municipalities today. Municipal elections will be conducted from those offices. The offices of the Returning Officer will be managed by the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer.

According to the election schedule, the nomination of candidates will be registered from 10 am to 5 pm and 10 am to 6 pm on Baishakh 11. The time has been fixed for filing a complaint against the candidate from 10 am to 5 pm on Baishakh 13.

Nomination papers will be examined from the 14th and 15th of Baishakh and a decision will be taken after an investigation of the complaint. Candidates are scheduled to withdraw their names from 10 am to 5 pm on Baishakh 17. The final list of candidates will be published on the same day from 5 pm to 6 pm.

Election symbols will be given to the candidates from 10 am to 5 pm on Baishakh 17 and the voting program will be held from 7 am to 5 am on Baishakh 30. The silence period will start after 12 noon on Baishakh 27.

According to Chief Electoral Officer Khatiwada, the office of the Chief Electoral Officer will conduct the election program and monitor the legal arrangements issued by the commission. The District Administration Office, Kathmandu has requested to hand over the legal weapons to the nearest police office for a clean election. During the inauguration of the office, Kathmandu Chief District Officer Rijal said, “We have already prepared the local election 2079, integrated district security strategic plan.” We have already considered the role of the Nepal Army, Armed Police, Nepal Police, and the operation of temporary police for security. A team comprising Chief Election Officer Khatiwada and Chief District Officer Rijal inspected the offices of Election Officers established in other municipalities of Kathmandu today.
