Kathmandu. Thousands of savers of about half a dozen cooperatives are asking the police for an investigation against Rabi Lamichhane, the Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister of the Government of Nepal.
To address the requests and complaints of the victims, the police offices of the relevant districts have investigated and said that the involvement of Rabi Lamichhane has been found. But they have not been able to withstand the pressure of the government, home minister, home secretary, and police headquarters.
Rabi Lamichhane, who was the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd., is currently the Home Minister of the Government of Nepal. It seems that he has taken loans from various cooperatives in the name of Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd and also in his account.
Although he is the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, he claims that all accounts and transactions are done by Chairman Mr. Gitendra Bahadur (GV) Rai. Jawaki Rai is currently not in Nepal. He is said to be hiding in Malaysia. Although he is the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, he has avoided saying there is no financial transaction. The police have also withdrawn from the investigation against him. The police chief has been saying that sometimes there is no evidence and sometimes no evidence of fraud was found during the investigation.
Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda stood on the floor of the Parliament and informed the House that Lamichhane had paid off the loan taken from Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara. He did not give any information about how much loan Lamichhane had taken and how much he had defaulted on.
While the victims are complaining about Lamichhane taking a loan from Pokhara’s Suryadarshan Cooperative and not paying it, it seems that Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd, of which he is the managing director, has taken a loan of 14 million rupees from Supreme Cooperative in Wootwal and has not paid it. It has been revealed that Home Minister Lamichhane illegally took a loan of Rs 2 crore from Supreme Savings and Loan Cooperative of Butwal in the name of Gorkha Media Network Pvt.
Based on the investigation report of the District Police Office Rupandehi, in the indictment submitted by the public prosecutor’s office to the district court on Monday, it is seen that “a loan was raised in the name of Lamichhane and a service charge of Rs. In the mission of the investigation, although Ravi has mentioned the evidence of illegally taking money from the cooperative, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, UML President KP Sharma Oli, and Inspector General of Police are trying to protect Home Minister Lamichhane.
In order to protect Lamichhane, the police leadership from the Prime Minister are threatening the subordinate police and the public prosecutor’s office not to make him an accused. Gorkha Network Media Pvt Ltd, which is the director of Lamichhane from Butwal’s Supreme Savings and Loan Cooperative, has seen that it has taken Rs. It is seen that Lamichhane took a loan of 10 million 99 lakh 36 thousand rupees and did not pay it.
Rabi and Gorkha media took this amount on this date
It is seen that one crore rupees was deposited in the account of the company on October 11, 2077, through the voucher of Siddharth Vaink, whose account number is 00115978097, when Rabi Lamichhane was the managing director of Gorkha Media Network Pvt.
Similarly, on 28th January 2077, two million five million, in the name of Chabilal Joshi, account number 040101000577 of Global IME Bank, was taken from the same cooperative. Out of the two crore loans approved on 18th Chait, 2077, after deducting Rs 4 lakh as service fee, two crore business loans were approved in the name of Rabi Lamichhane and it appears that Rs 1 crore 96 lakh has been collected.
Account no of Gorkha Media Network Pvt. 0401010000577 collected by Rabi Lamichhane through Global IME Bank Voucher. It has been revealed from the investigation that the loan was invested in the name of Lamichhane, a savings member of the organization, without completing the process. The police investigation also revealed that Sagar KC was the one who endorsed the voucher and Rosni Gurung was the one who deposited the amount.
Similarly, on May 5, 2078, one crore rupees was issued in the name of Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd. and the account opened in Global IME Bank in the name of the Pvt. Ltd. 00115978097 has seen the transactions collected through vouchers. It seems that they invested in Gorkha Media Network without completing the necessary procedures and documents. Sagar KC, who prepared the voucher for the disbursement of the amount, and Rabi Lamichhane and Rosni Gurung, who collected the amount, were seen.
From the investigation, it has been seen that 30 lakh rupees were deposited in the same account on 9th Baisakh 2078 in the name of Pvt. Rabi’s explanation is enough
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs Rabi Lamichhane, instead of being responsible for some media’s coverage of his co-operative fraud, has made fun of him. He took a dig at the message of the media on Tuesday evening and wrote, “Today, different vegetables are grown.” When I ate “Aloo Cauli”, I felt dizzy. Today “Kauli potato” has arrived. That’s the difference.’ In the Shakti occasion when he became the Home Minister, he wrote as much as ‘It is shown that loans have been made by creating a fake mortgage loan account in the name of Ravi Lamichhane, not a loan was taken, the money of the cooperative has come, taken, gone, nothing in my account.’
But he forgot that he was the Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd at that time. And being the Minister of Home Affairs, he said, “A false, wrong account was created.” Can a certain person open an account in someone’s name without permission? Who has done such a thing? The Home Minister should investigate or not. In this country, has anyone opened an account in the name of Sarbsadharan?
Why can’t he question the bank employee who opened the account without the person’s permission? Because the Home Minister’s claim is false. He said, “According to the investigation on social media, there are no details such as citizenship, loan request form, KYC form, three-passenger details, etc. when opening the loan account: Lapche, not even a signature.
If so, why is the Global Bank working so hard? Can a bank account be opened without a citizen’s consent? Who is guilty? Shouldn’t the Home Minister open it? He has been repeating his claim that he did not take the loan. Forgetting that he was in a responsible position like the home minister of the country, Lamichhane writes again, “Do I have to take the contract of all the crooks of GB Rai?”
No one asked him to take GV Rai’s contract. But is it not within the responsibility of the Home Minister to search for the fraudsters of cooperatives who embezzle millions of savings of thousands of Nepali citizens? Has it been confirmed that I have taken an illegal loan in the indictment by Home Minister Lamichhane who pressured the police and did not allow him to register the charge sheet? have asked. Such irresponsibility of a person who is in a position to answer himself has caused the Home Minister to add pain to the cooperative victims instead of relief.
He has questioned that ‘in the indictment, apart from being a shareholder in Gorkha Media Network Pvt. Ltd. at that time, is there anything confirmed by any evidence documents that a person named Ravi Lamichhane has committed fraud on Supreme Cooperative?’ But the police have revealed that he also took a loan from the investigation. Was he the authority to see the source of income of the investment brought by GB Rai? He asked. But they have forgotten that being a partner does not mean that one cannot show ignorance about the user of illegal property.
Who was Lamichhane, the loan seeker or the official person of the lending cooperative? He asked that. However, he has ignored the fact that although he is the managing director of Gorkha Media Network, he is the official director of the loan-seeking organization. Lamichhane, who asked the question, “Am I a person with no status who has to make a living by defrauding two or four crores?” seems to have forgotten that the measure of status is not in the face but in the behavior.
He has also warned them not to influence the police investigation and the case under consideration in the court even though he is not involved in cooperative fraud and has been confirmed with unseen evidence. How many people were cheated by which cooperative when they were media directors? Four years ago when he was the managing director of Gorkha Media Network Pvt Ltd, Rabi Lamichhane along with GV Rai, president of the Pvt Ltd, did not pay the loan taken from the cooperative. Neither here nor there.
It seems that about 49,000 co-operatives have invested in Gorkha Media by taking a loan of more than 500 million from the guarantor. It has been disputed between the two parties that 300 million was transferred from Suryadarshan Cooperative. Under the guise of power, if the co-operatives’ debts are not paid and 50,000 victims are tortured, then all the co-operative directors in the country will run away with the bailout’s money. It is not possible to imagine that the Home Minister, after taking the loan from the cooperative, said that the evidence was not enough to pay it back. Now there are 73 lakh 81 thousand 218 general savers in 31 thousand 373 cooperatives in Nepal.
4 trillion 78 billion savings and 4 trillion 26 billion loans have been mobilized from all those cooperatives. If the minister encourages embezzlement rather than protecting the savings of the common people, it is sure to create chaos in the country. In the name of protecting the president of one party or the home minister, if the prime minister and the power partner parties stand against millions of victims, it seems that the price will be more expensive than expected.
