Surkhet, May 29 : Stakeholders of Karnali have expressed doubt, saying the budget unveiled by the federal government would boost tourism in Karnali region. They expressed the doubt after the budget presented by Finance Minister Dr Yubraj Khatiwada on Tuesday allocated only Rs 5.20 billion for tourism promotion. Former Chairperson of Karnali Development Commission, Dr Kal Bahadur Rokaya, said that the Karnali would face the same problem until the government allocates ample budget to augment tourism activities in Karnali.
Arguing that Rs 5 billion budget was very minimal for tourism development, Rokaya said, “This hodgepodge budget will not give expected results in tourism development of Karnali.” Similarly, a resident of Humla, and writer and journalist, Dr Dipendra Rokaya, said Nepal is one of the world destinations of tourists and Karnali is the destination of Nepal. He said there would be expected development of tourism in Karnali if the government allocated the budget by confirming the areas.
