RSS celebrates 57th anniversary, various people awarded

Kathmandu, 19 Feb.: The National News Agency (RSS) observed its 57th Anniversary by organizing a special function at its central office, Bhadrakali Plaza, Kathmandu today. The Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) RSS chapter presented a special honour to organization former officiating general manager and senior journalist Gokul Pokhrel on the occasion. Likewise, RSS executive editor Sheetal Prasad Mahato and assistant editor Madan Gautam were honoured with the “RSS Journalism Award” instituted by the chapter. The award carries a purse of Rs 10,000 each and letter of appreciation.
Similarly, professors P Kharel and Ram Krishna Regmi were feted at the event. Kharel was also former Chairman of the RSS, while Regmi former chief news reporter. Secretary at the Ministry of Information and Communication, Kedar Bahadur Adhikari who attended the function as a chief guest honoured them.
Similarly, RSS stringer Bajura district, Prem Raule, was presented this year’s “Umakanta-Geetadevi-Chandramani Memorial Award”. The award carrying a purse of Rs 5,000 was instituted by RSS correspondent (Tulsipur office, Dang) Narayani Rajauri in commemoration of her the late father Umakanta, mother Geetadevi and brother Chandramani Rajaure. Likewise, the RSS Employees’ Association presented this year’s “Basu Rimal Yatri Memorial Prize” carrying a purse of Rs 5,001 to RSS deputy manager Prem Basnet and RSS Biratnagar office (Province 1) assistant Krishna Prasad Wagle.
Likewise, Mohammed Sadrul ( Chief, RSS Bhadrapur Office, Chandragadhi, Province 1), Birendra Narayan Karna ( Chief, RSS Birgunj office, Province 2), and Asharam Chaudhary (correspondent , RSS, Lahan, Siraha)were presented a prize of cash Rs 5,000 each in recognition of their contribution to the protection of promotion of RSS physical properties. Naryani Rajaure (RSS Tulsipur Office, Province 5) and Sher Bahadur Singh (RSS Bhimduttanagar Office, Province 7) were honored in recognition of their significant contribution to the protection and increase of RSS physical properties.
Jeevan Bhandari of RSS International Desk was honoured for his remarkable role in organizing a health camp at the RSS and facilitation for launching the Health Insurance Programme for RSS staffs. RSS Chair Kulchandra Wagle honoured them by offering letter of appreciation and shawls.  Assistant manager Jagat Krishna Shrestha and senior office assistant Rajani Bajracharya were conferred the “Aditadhwaj Joshi Memorial Award” carrying a purse of Rs 5,500 instituted by Nepal National Employees Association.
Likewise, under stringer category, the ‘best local news reporter award’ was awarded to Kedar Magar of Province 1 (Khotang), Gopal Baral of Province 2 (Bardibas-Mahottari), Ram Hari Neupane of Province 3 (Nuwakot), Sandesh Poudel of Province 4 (Lamjung), Uma K.C. of Province 5 (Rolpa), Nara Bahadur Rijal of Province 6 (Dailekh), Rajendra Prasad Paneru of Province 7 (Kanchanpur) and Kalpana Poudel (Kathmandu).
The ‘best feature writing award’ was given to Kumar Chaulagain (Kathmandu), Ajaya Kumar Sah (stringer based in Dhanusa), and Mohini Mishra (Risal), senior editor (International Desk). The award carries a purse of Rs 5,000 each and letter of appreciation.
Likewise, the ‘best photo journalist award’ was given to Roshan Sapkota (Kathmandu) and Sitaram Adhikari (Dhading-based correspondent). Binod Singh Bista (Baitadi-based correspondent) received the ‘best audio reporter’.
Employees completing 20 years in service honoured : RSS employees completing 20 years in service including RSS English desk chief Deep Raj Sanyal were honoured on the occasion. Others are Manoj Karki (executive editor at English desk at RSS central office) and Manoj Dahal (sub news reporter based in Biratnagar (Province 1).
Also, Chandra Lal Shrestha (office bus driver at RSS central office) and Dan Bahadur Saud (office assistant at Dhangadhi-based RSS office (Province 7) were honoured.
