Kathmandu :The Conflict Victims’ Common Platform (CVCP) today sent a letter to Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Bhanubhakta Dhakal, seeking the active participation of conflict victims in transitional justice process. The letter stated that experiences showed that a solution to the issue would not be possible by excluding conflict survivors in transitional law amendment process, it is said.
The government has been requested to prepare a road map of transitional justice and formulate required acts and polices in coordination and consultation with all the stakeholder concerned and victims, making the Truth and Reconciliation Commission and Commission into the Inquiry of Disappeared Persons reliable and action and result-oriented by taking lesson from the experiences.
It mentions about the compulsion for seeking alternative ways (knocking on the doors other national and international judiciary) if cases of conflict victims were not addressed during the amendment process. The CVCP which concluded its November 20-21, 2018 national conference issuing the Kathmandu charter has demanded the government also pay attention to the issues included in the charter.
