Jihadis are entering neighboring countries in the guise of refugees: Putin

Kathmandu. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed concern that millions of jihadists could flee Afghanistan to neighboring countries, including Russia. Putin’s comments came amid talk of the birth of a new extremist group, the Islamic State (IS). Putin expressed concern that extremists could enter Asian countries bordering Afghanistan in the guise of refugees. “Who are the refugees?” Who is considered a refugee? “Extremists in the guise of refugees can enter another country,” Putin said.

Putin is concerned that they could enter another country from Afghanistan by various means, such as by car, horse, or on foot. Referring to the Muslim-majority separatist movement in Chechnya, Putin said, “We must learn from the bitter experiences of the 1990s and 2000s.” He said Moscow would do everything possible to prevent the Taliban from expanding its influence in neighboring countries and discouraging their activities. Russia has kept its diplomatic mission in Kabul open and welcomed a new ruler to Afghanistan. Earlier, Putin’s special envoy to Afghanistan, Jamir Kabulov, praised the Taliban for adhering to the Doha peace talks.-newskarkhana
