Kathmandu. An all-party meeting convened by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at his official residence in Baluwatar concluded that the main opposition party, the CPN-UML, was trying to escape from dialogue and talks. The meeting reached such a conclusion after the UML did not participate in the all-party meeting. ‘Although the meeting convened by the Prime Minister was attended by representatives of all the parties represented in the Parliament, no one from the main opposition party CPN-UML was present.
After the meeting, Congress leader Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, who is also the spokesperson of the government, said, “Earlier, the speaker had organized a similar all-party meeting to hold talks with them. He was also absent.” Because of this, they seemed to be trying to escape from dialogue and negotiations. Which is different from what the country needs now. ‘ Though UML was absent from the meeting, Prime Minister Deuba had expressed his expectation to attend the meeting. “Once again, I invite them. They will come and keep their word,” Karki told reporters, quoting Deuba.
The all-party meeting has concluded that the federal parliament should be run in a smooth and dignified manner.
For that, CPN-UML and its chairman KP Sharma Oli have urged to play a positive role. The CPN-UML has been obstructing the sittings of the federal parliament. Although 33 bills have been tabled in the House of Representatives and 27 in the National Assembly, they have not been able to move forward in the process.
