Attack in America: 13 injured in firing at the metro station

New York. An attacker opened fire on people Tuesday morning at the 36th Street subway station in Brooklyn, New York. 13 people were injured in this attack. The assailant fled after carrying out the attack. A photo from the scene showed people taking care of bloodied passengers lying on the station floor. The city’s fire department has closed the movement here. Information about this incident has also been given to President Joe Biden.

The New York Police have made it clear that the shooting at the subway station is not a terrorist incident. The police are investigating the matter from the point of view of firing. The attacker has not yet been caught. Police have expressed fear that the attacker may carry out more attacks.

According to senior officials, at least five people were shot by a man about 5 feet 5 inches tall and 180 pounds, who was wearing a gas mask and construction site orange clothing. He fled the spot and has not been caught. The attacker shot five people and injured eight in the stampede. In the video, there was a huge panic, and passengers were seen running here and there.

The fire department says it responded to a call for a smoke at the station and found several victims of gunshots. Images posted on social media showed people lying in a pool of blood on the floor and footage from the Citizen app showed a large number of police officers at the scene. Sources said some of the injured jumped into another train to save their lives.

The fire department has asked New Yorkers to avoid going to the area and notified emergency vehicles to arrive. Power was cut off on the N/R line from 59th Street to Atlantic Avenue and delays have been reported on the B, D, F, N, Q and R lines. W service is down. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) said there are no active explosive devices at this time.  Witnesses are asked to call NYPD Crime Stoppers at 800577TIPS. Please stay away from the area. More information will be given when it becomes available.

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said President Biden has been informed of the latest developments in connection with the New York City subway shootings. Psaki said senior White House staff are in contact with New York City Mayor Eric Adams and Police Commissioner Keechant Sewell. At the same time, according to a Justice Department spokesman, Attorney General Merrick Garland received the initial briefing and is monitoring the situation in Brooklyn. At least 13 people were injured in the firing incident at the metro station and several non-explosive devices have been recovered, officials said.

There has been an increase in shootings in New York City this year and violent gun crime since Mayor Eric Adams took office in January. According to police department data, till April 3, the incidents of firing increased from 260 during the same period last year to 296. There was a historic decrease in gun violence in 2018 and 2019, and the city is still safer than in years past. New York’s recoveries from the pandemic found the city more dangerous than when the pandemic broke out in New York in the spring of 2020.
