Kathmandu: In the last local elections, independent candidates widely used the national flag, and the Election Commission legalized it. The Commission, seeing that there will be a flood of independents in the upcoming union and state elections, has regulated it because they will use the national flag.
In the Election Code of Conduct proposed by the Election Commission, it has been proposed that a party or candidate can use a maximum of 10 national flags. “A party or a candidate shall not be allowed to use the national flag during election campaigning, except for the use of a maximum of 10 national flags during processions, public meetings, corner meetings, door-to-door meetings, or any other type of rally,” states the proposal of the election code of conduct.
In the last local elections, the widespread use of the national flag caused a controversy, and since a complaint was filed in the commission, it is said that this time the election commission has resolved it early.
