Kathmandu. 204 proposals for development assistance have been submitted to the Social Development Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. A public notice was published on Mangsir 1 calling for proposals for the program worth 44.45 million rupees. Based on the information, these proposals have been submitted for 10 sectoral programs.
In the meeting of the social development committee, an indicator determination and selection committee has been formed under the chairmanship of Ward 2 chairman Rajendra Kumar Shrestha. Executive members Mahesh Nepali and Lalita Khadgi are members of the committee. The committee will have a representative from the finance department and the chief member secretary of the social development department.
In the meeting, Sunita Dangol, acting head of the metropolis, said that priority should be given to the productive sector while conducting social development programs and a program should be conducted to increase the identity of each ward by linking it with skill and product. Let’s see if the received proposals have been implemented. Let’s look at the balance of geography and social work. If it appears that our requirements are not met, let us participate in the missing areas through further notification.
In the meeting, Chief Administrative Officer Basant Adhikari held the opinion that the activities conducted by non-governmental organizations should be coordinated with the ward in which they are to be conducted. It has been seen that the full payment should be made only after monitoring the operation of the activities, and the need to appoint a focal person for each sector’s program. The Department of Social Development should pay attention to this while conducting the program.” says the Chief Administrative Officer.
On Mangsir 1st, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City called for a proposal through a public notice to institutionalize and organize the sectoral work carried out by the non-governmental organizations that are part of the metropolitan city. An open proposal has been invited to run the program in such a way that the proposed non-governmental organizations will also participate in the cost-to-work according to the expenditure standards of the Ministry of Finance and the approved expenditure of the Metropolitan Municipality.
“According to the provisions of the Development Assistance Procedure 2079, many proposals have been submitted that are insufficient in some areas and repeated in some areas from the invitation to work within 5 lakh rupees.” In the meeting, the social committee coordinator and chairman of Ward 10, Ramkumar K. c. said, now is the time to work so that results can be seen. Let’s choose a program and do quality work in such a way that there is a balance between problems and needs.” Ward 2 chairman Rajendra Kumar Shrestha said that work should be done in a sustainable manner. After giving training and leaving, it happens here or there. Shrestha said, “Let’s run the program so that the work is completed only by empowering the target group.”
The allocated amount should not be spent. It does not mean choosing programs that do not produce results. Our vision should be on the results. Mahesh Nepali, a member of the executive committee, expressed his opinion at the meeting. It is mentioned in the notification that the proposal will be approved based on the organization’s physical structure, manpower, experience, and expertise in the proposed work and cost participation.
