Bhubaneswar. Odisha Health Minister Naba Das was shot dead by an ASI in Brajrajnagar on Sunday afternoon. Navdas has 4-5 bullets in his chest. His condition is serious. He was taken to Bhubaneswar by helicopter. The Crime Branch has started an investigation into the matter. On the other hand, the police have arrested Asai Gopaldas, the shooter. He is being interrogated. But so far the accused has not revealed the reason for the attack. A police officer who had reached Brajrajnagar to participate in the Nabadas program said. As soon as he got down from the vehicle, one Asai Gopaldas fired four to five rounds at Navdas.
Advocate Rammohan Rao said that Health Minister Nab Das was the chief guest in the program. When he arrived, a crowd gathered to welcome him. Then someone opened fire on them. We saw a policeman running away after firing.
Navkishore Das first contested from the Jharsuguda seat in Odisha on a Congress ticket in 2004 but lost. Then in 2009, he again contested on the Congress ticket and won. He won from Congress in 2014 as well. He was elected MLA from this seat for the third time in a row, contesting from Janata Dal (BJD) in the 2019 elections. Navkishore Das is considered to be an influential leader in this region. Naba Kishore is one of the richest ministers of the Odisha government. He has deposits of more than 45.12 lakhs in various banks in Sambalpur, Bhubaneswar, and Jharsuguda. Odisha’s health minister has more than 70 vehicles worth around 15 crores. It also includes a Mercedes Benz worth 1.14 crores.
Navkishore Das came into the limelight because of his donation. He donated a gold kalash worth more than one crore rupees to a temple in Maharashtra. Das donated 1.7 kg gold and 5 kg silver kalash to the Shani Shingnapur temple in Maharashtra, one of the famous Shani temples in the country. Navkishore Das was caught watching porn during the assembly session in 2015. Then the then Speaker Niranjan Pujari suspended him for a week.
