On Bisu Parva, there is a tradition that we should celebrate the new year with new enthusiasm by throwing away all the year-long quarrels and bad things. Although there are different ways of celebrating the New Year across the country, the New Year is celebrated in the Far West with a bang.
While in the hilly districts of the Far West, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and friends celebrate the Bisu festival, this festival is also celebrated with grandeur in Terai. Bisu is celebrated to forget the bitter things of the past year. Sighing is therapy in itself. It is believed that there should not be misunderstandings between people who cry on the day of Bisu.
It is believed that if you don’t weep on New Year’s Day, you will get poisoned, and the sorrows like those of the past year will come in the New Year.
