The Raxaul people had protested the loading of the clinkers and gypsum needed for the cement factories in Nepal from Raxaul reasoning that it created huge pollution. It resulted in India’s pressure to Nepal to load the clinker from Birgunj dry port.
On the occasion, Joint Secretary at Commerce Ministry, Rabi Shankar Sinju, complained that Indian government banned Nepal from loading clinker from regular yard without formal notice. High level discussion was essential to decide to change the location for clinker loading, he added. Director General at Container Corporation Pvt of India, Kalyan Rama, however said the Nepali importers now need to pay half million rupees per rack to control the wind pollution created by the loading of clinker from Raxaul.
