Small and cottage industries a basis of economic prosperity: Chairman Dahal

Kathmandu, April 27 : CPN (Maoist Centre) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that investment expansion should be made for the development of small and cottage industries to prepare a ground for economic prosperity.
Inaugurating the 14th Nepal International Industrial Trade and Cottage Industry Fair, 2075 on Friday, the former Prime Minister said that prosperous and self-reliant economy can be developed only if investment was scaled up in agri-based small and cottage industries.
“The nation has achieved political stability after a long time. Economic prosperity and development is needed even for political stability. Now, there will be no excuse under any pretext. The agriculture-based industries should be given special priority,” he added.
The small and cottage industries should be developed at the local levels to ensure employment opportunities to the youth leaving for foreign countries in search of jobs, the Maoist Centre Chairman opined. Furthermore, the former PM said that all should work to create environment conducive to promote Nepali produces and use them even to reduce the burgeoning trade deficit. “A huge result could be achieved from a minor effort. This is also a moral issue,” he added.
