Nawalparasi, April 29 : Local farmers have been benefited from a seeds bank established in Kawasoti Municipality in Nawalparasi district. Farmers’ difficulties in previous years for want of seeds have come to an end in large as a result. Established in 2068 B.S. with the financial support from the Municipality, the seeds bank provides approximately 916 types of agriculture seeds.
The bank aims to address scarcity of agriculture seeds, and protect them, said a local farmer Harijan Chaudhary.
The bank has helped farmers a lot. It purchases in many cases seeds from the local farmers, which helps them find the market for their agriculture seeds. The farmers have got their productions increasing with the use of seeds provided by the bank, said a local farmer Laxmi Subedi, adding that it has also helped to conserve local agriculture seeds.
