The parliamentary committee suggests to the government to bring back the areas including Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani

Kathmandu. The State Management and Good Governance Committee of the Parliament have suggested the government take formal initiative for the return of Nepali territory including Kalapani, Lipulek, and Limpiyadhura. The committee, through its annual report 2078, said that the territory that Nepal has updated on the map could not be returned in a practical way and suggested the government to take good diplomatic initiative for that.

The annual report states that the government of Nepal will take the good diplomatic initiative to take back the territories of Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, and other areas of Nepal as per the map. The government had issued a new map including Limpiyadhura, Lipulek, and Kalapani on 7 Jestha, 2077. The map was approved by the Federal Parliament on 31 Jestha, 2077. However, the territory included in the map has not yet been returned. The committee has no formal information on whether there has been a formal initiative for the return.

The State Management Committee has pointed out the challenge of not being able to take back the map of Lipulek, Limpiyadhura, and other areas of Nepal under Indian control even after making it public. The committee also concluded that the inability to remove the physical infrastructure built by India in the border area through diplomatic initiatives and to control and operate the border area in a systematic manner is also a challenge.

Stressing on the need for a lasting solution to the border dispute between Nepal and India, the Committee on State Management and Good Governance has suggested increasing the number of BOPs in the border areas and strengthening and consolidate BOPs with adequate resources.
