36 hours of fasting from tomorrow

People observing the fast on the day of Nahay-Khay, after bathing and meditating, will start this fast with purity by eating things like Arva rice, pumpkin curry, gram dal, and gooseberry chutney. Common devotees will also reach the homes of those who observe fast on Monday to get the offerings of Nahay-Khay. After this, on Saturday, fasting will be done with kheer made of Arva rice, jaggery, and milk and after this, the fasting of 36 hours will start.

Lord Surya is worshiped

Chhath is the worship of nature. The Sun God is also worshiped on this occasion, he is considered to be the only God who is visible. Worshiping Lord Surya, the Astachal Gami is worshiped in the sense that even when the sun which illuminated our life throughout the day, we bow to him even when he is depleted. On the occasion of Chhath Puja, worship is done on the banks of rivers, ponds, and water bodies, which inspires cleanliness. This festival inspires us to make rivers pollution free. In this festival, many fruits including bananas, apples, and sugarcane are worshiped in the form of prasad, which underlines the importance of vegetation.

Chhath Devi is the sister of Lord Surya

This festival of sun worship is celebrated on Surya Shashti, hence it is called Chhath. This festival is considered to bring happiness, prosperity, and desired results to the family. It is believed that Chhath Devi is the sister of Lord Surya, so people offer Arghya to the Sun and worship the Sun to please Chhath Maiya.

In astrology, the Sun is considered to be the ruler of all the planets. Instead of pleasing all the planets, if only Sun is worshiped and Arghya (water offering) is given regularly then many benefits can be obtained.
