Narayangadh. Nepali Congress leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has said that he will make the Congress candidate win the presidency after discussing with the political parties.
Inaugurating the first session of Nepal Press Union Bagmati Province today in Sauraha. Koirala alleged that some parties in power tried to throw the Congress, but said that their objections are natural as they are the largest party in the Parliament. He said that Congress will play its role by being in the opposition and that the country is currently in a very difficult situation, so Congress is active in discussions to solve this problem.
Leader Koirala said that he is the guardian of an independent judiciary and free communication democracy. He said, “According to the constitution, holding periodical elections in accordance with the federal structure has strengthened democracy.” Now Congress will take guardianship in Chitwan area number two. Congress central member Govind Bhattarai said that the press should not be questioned. He said that Congress is weak because it is trying to create factions rather than creating an organization within the party.
On that occasion, party central members Dr. Gobind Pokharel, Ajay Babu Sivakoti, Congress Dhading District Chairman Ramnath Adhikari, Chitwan District Chairman Rajeshwar Khanal, Nuwakot District Chairman Jagdishwar Narsingh KC, Democratic Press National Network Chairman Damodar Prasad Dawadi and others stressed that the role of the press in democracy should be responsible.
In the event chaired by Murari Adhikari, Bagmati Provincial Coordinator of the Press Union, President Shiv Lamshal said that the organization of the union will be made nationwide and active and will play the role of watchdog in favor of democracy and freedom of the press. It is understood that the press union of Bagmati province will elect the leadership unanimously and initiatives are being taken for that.
