The month of Shravan is the most beloved month of Lord Shiva. There is a story behind Bhole Bhandari’s love for the month of Saun, in fact in the month of Shravan, Mother Parvati performed severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband, due to which Lord Shiva was pleased and accepted Mother Parvati as his wife. Jalabhishek and Rudrabhishek of Shivlinga are of special importance in the month of Shravan. Why is Shravan two months this time?

This year, Shravan will last for 2 months, that is, the period of worshiping Shiva will last for 58 days in Shravan. Actually, since there is an extra month in the month of Shravan, the month of Shravan will be two months instead of one. After 19 years, when Adhimas comes in the month of Shravan, such a coincidence is created again. This time, fasting is being observed on 9 Mondays in the month of Shravan. The first Monday fast will be on July 10, i.e., on the 25th of Ashadha. The Hindu Panchang festival is held on the basis of solar month and lunar month. According to Vedic scriptures, a lunar month is 354 days long and a solar month is 365 days long. Thus there is a gap of 11 days between these two. Every 3 years this difference is 33 days. This 33-day is called Adhikarmasa. Thus, the month of Shravan will be two months this time since there is an extra month.

The special month of worship of Lord Shiva is starting on July 4th i.e. Ashadha 19th, and it will be from July 18th i.e. Shravan 31st to August 16th i.e. Shravan 31st. After this, the rest of the month of Shrao will begin and Bhadra will continue till the 14th i.e. 31st of August.
