Kathmandu : Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the National Police Academy would be shifted to a spacious location because the existing area at Maharajgunj had no sufficient space for the Academy to conduct various activities. Addressing the 178th convocation of the police inspector here today, PM Oli said, “Long back, it was realized that present space was insufficient for the Academy. Even the land was purchased to shift it to Panauti, and India had assured of assistance to construct the Academy building there. But, some rumour mongers mocked at the decision to shift the Academy now.” The PM further said some people even showed uncivilized attitude by blaming that the President tried to press the Academy for its relocation. Even a former police employee showed double standard on it. But the government is for the people, he argued. As per the police source, as much as 822 ropanies of land was bought to shift the Academy at Panauti of Kavrepalanchowk in two to three phases.
According to the PM, crime was politicized in various pretexts. However, those killing and looting people in the political camouflage would not be spared, he warned. Even the police have significant role to contribute to nation’s campaign of good governance and prosperity. He urged the police graduates to work as per discipline. The PM also suggested the Nepal Police that it stopped suppressing lower ranks while gratifying the higher rank. If the duty is performed honestly, the police persons need not lobby with any power centres, the PM underscored, arguing, “Government is not for any bias nor for sycophancy.”
