Kathmandu. A writ petition has been filed in the Supreme Court against the ordinance on political parties certified by President Vidyadevi Bhandari on Wednesday as per the decision and recommendation of the cabinet on Tuesday.
In the writ petition filed by various legal practitioners, it has been demanded that the ordinance should be repealed as it is in conflict with the constitution and all the actions taken on the basis of the ordinance should be annulled. Petitions registered as unconstitutional are heard in the Constitutional Court.
The issued ordinance has a provision to divide the Central Committee or the parliamentary parties which have reached 20 percent. The CPN-UML and the Janata Samajwadi Party split on Wednesday after President Vidyadevi Bhandari ratified the ordinance.
