Kathmandu: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the government is committed to conducting the elections of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly members to be held on November 4 in a peaceful and fearless environment. In a meeting with the main opposition party CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli on Wednesday, Prime Minister Deuba urged not to doubt the election environment and said that the government is committed to conducting the election in a peaceful and fearless environment.
UML President Oli drew the government’s attention to the fact that elections should be fair, rigged, and credible. In the meeting, UML President Oli also expressed his views on the Citizenship Bill and the Transitional Justice Bill that the government has advanced in Parliament. Similarly, he drew attention to the fact that the government was not able to play a role in controlling the rising prices in the market. Prime Minister Deuba has said that the government will take the issue seriously and move forward, saying that it will also be kept in the ruling coalition.
Apart from this, President Oli also talked to Deuba about the current ruling coalition. In a democracy, there is a ruling party and an opposition party. There is competition between them. But to ban the UML, the ruling coalition reached 7 parties. Now how many will you go 8, 9, 10?’ said UML Vice President Subas Nemwang, who participated in the meeting, quoting Oli’s statement.
President Oli also said that while President Bidya Devi Bhandari was working according to the constitutional framework on the Citizenship Bill, the ruling coalition had shown irresponsible character by challenging the President. The President has said that the Citizenship Bill should be reconsidered within the constitutional framework. You decided to hold the alliance meeting and not change the salary, even the full stop. This was not a responsible job,” said Oli. Deuba-Oli had a discussion for about two hours.
UML Vice President Subas Nemwang and Vishnu Poudel and Minister of Communications Gyanendra Bahadur Karki also participated in the meeting. Prime Minister Deuba discussed the matter with the UML, which has been complaining about the government’s lack of consultation when announcing the date of the election, as the date approached. The meeting between Deuba (Oli) has been seen as meaningful when the conclusion of the seat distribution between the ruling coalition parties has not been reached.
