In the general elections held recently in Mangsi, (November), no party could get a majority. Even the grand alliance formed before the election has become a disgrace due to greed for power and power. Bringing the Grand Alliance to Pashupati Aryaghat, Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal has again succeeded in becoming the Prime Minister by deposing the Chairman of CPN-UML and former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. There can be no doubt that there is always role of some form of external power in the formation of a left-wing government in Nepal, but the government formed under the leadership of Dahal must have had the invisibility and full support of the neighboring country China.
The government under the leadership of Pushpa Kamal Dahal a coalition of CPN-UML, CPN-Maoist Center, Independent Party, RPP, Citizen Abolition Party, and CK Raut’s Janmat Party of Madhesh. (similar to Meeks Gedagudi) has recently expanded the ministerial model for the second time with four deputy prime ministers. Dahal, who had announced the formation of a comfort government in the past, brought the grand alliance to the Arya Ghat and entered into a powerful alliance with the CPN-UML.
More than comfort, it is necessary for the new government to pay attention to how to save a country like Nepal, which is living on a small dependency, with high prices and unemployment in the world. The outgoing Deuba government’s decision to ban the import of luxury goods and to give employees two days off was the suspicion that the nation’s treasury was empty. In such a situation, we should not forget that it is mandatory to hold elections in the country.
Due to the epidemic of Covid-19 in 2019, the world economy is in a state of collapse. We are at a loss as to when and in what form the war between Russia and Ukraine will take in the current state of the world. Maldives, Pakistan, and Myanmar are almost bankrupt. We all know that Sri Lanka has gone bankrupt. Bangladesh, a neighboring country, has reached a desperate situation to save its economy. It is necessary to reach the vision of the government towards this issue as well. Also, how much is the debt with the World Bank, that is, what is the status of Nepal in FETF? It seems necessary for the government to move forward with an operational blueprint by accepting these various issues.
We Nepalis have a habit of praising China at some point in time and praising India at some point. Or let’s say Nepalese two arrows have grown, one Chinese side and the other Indian side. On the one hand, there is India with whom our religion, culture, language, lifestyle, and everything are almost the same we can talk in a simple and easy way and we can understand and understand things in a simple and correct way. On the other hand, there is China, which has nothing in common with us either in religion, culture, or language.
If we look at the foreign policy of both countries, there is a stark difference between India and China. If we talk about China’s policy, according to a report, China will take its setup to countries where it will establish restaurants, salons, karaoke, and Chinese language teaching centers. Through all this, he appears to bring development to the developing countries of Africa and South East Asia. But in fact, China is destroying the peaceful, religious and compassionate Buddhist culture of these countries. It has shown that they are trying to bring about cultural change in these countries.
Drugs and weapons human trafficking and online scams are being carried out through China in Myanmar and Thailand. China is promoting illegal trade in many countries through its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). There are examples of the China-Myanmar-Thailand economic corridor becoming a haven for drugs, arms, human trafficking, and online scams. Similarly, regarding the recently completed international airport in Pokhara, Gandaki province of Nepal, it has been heard that China is saying that Pokhara’s international airport is a part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).
Similarly, according to the report of Mekong News, most of the illegal businesses are controlled by people of Chinese origin. China has promised to develop infrastructure in these countries through the BRI project. But contrary to the promise, he starts an illegal business. According to a report by Mekong News, most of the illegal businesses are controlled by people of Chinese origin. Be it Shwe Kokko in Myanmar or a casino in the Philippines, Macau, or Cambodia. In fact, these businesses are connected to a global network. Chinese casinos are at the center of online scams. Shwe Kokko, a town on the Myanmar border, has become a notorious hub for casinos and online scams. Despite all the efforts, illegal activities continue there. Chinese companies have invested in most of the casinos. There are new types of digital scams happening every day with the help of new technology. It has become a threat to global cyber security. In the name of development, loans are given in the first stage and then such activities are promoted by the Chinese. Such a policy will destroy the economy of that country. The current situation in Myanmar is not hidden from us.
As another example, we can look at Sri Lanka and Pakistan at present. First, China provided loans to Sri Lanka in the name of starting various projects and later carried the burden of the loans. Various projects were started, but as the projects were not completed, China began to demand a return on the investment made on the condition of not investing more. Sri Lanka could not pay back the debt to China and the country went bankrupt. There may be other reasons behind the bankruptcy of Sri Lanka, but the main reason was China’s debt burden.
Another situation in Pakistan has reached the brink of bankruptcy due to China’s support and investment. So far in Pakistan, people are not able to buy and eat even daily necessities like potatoes, tomatoes, flour, and pulses. The reason is the non-payment of foreign debt and depletion of foreign currency reserves.
But it can be assumed that India has ruled or ruled the neighboring small countries, but it is not found in the history of India that it has acted to dominate the economy of any neighboring country. India was the first to help Sri Lanka when it went bankrupt. Similarly, India also helped Maldives and Bangladesh. It means that both neighboring countries may be equal in political approach to Nepal, but religion, culture, and language cannot be the same, and what kind of long-term impact the assistance given by a country can have in the future?
