Govt planning basic health policy: DPM Yadav

Janakpurdham : Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health and Population, Upendra Yadav, has said the government was planning to formulate a basic health policy. During a discussion organized by Janakpur Hospital here Thursday, DPM Yadav said the doctors need to change the Kathmandu centric mindset.
“Health and education were not given first priority because of the faulty policies of the past. The basic health policy to be formulated in line with federal set up will correct past mistakes and bring attitudinal reform,” he said, adding that efforts from all sides were essential to develop Janakpur hospital as a central hospital of the province.
According to him, the heath service was not reached to far flung areas also because 90 percent doctors were living in the cities.
He further said the province government should not solely depend on central government. Province 2 Chief Minister Lal Babu Raut also said the province government was also preparing for the formulation of the health policy.
