Kathmandu. Amidst the controversy, the Election Commission has taken a commitment from the political parties for the effective implementation of the code of conduct in the local level elections. On Tuesday, the commission called the parties registered for the election and took commitment for the effective implementation of the code of conduct.
Earlier, smaller parties had chanted slogans saying they could not participate in the discussion on the election code of conduct. They objected, saying they were trying to get the code of conduct signed without discussing it. Later, Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Thapaliya said that the issue was just a regular process and the smaller parties had signed a commitment letter.
