Senior journalist Baishya passes away

Kathmandu, Dec 23 : Senior journalist and press freedom fighter Ramgopal Baishya has passed away at 11:00 last night. He was 74. Baishya died of prostate cancer. Journalist Baishya leaves behind his wife, six sons and a daughter. Starting his journalistic career from Bardiya in 2026 BS, Baishya worked for Kathmandu-based Chetana, Rastra Dhowni and Rastra Pukar weeklies. Since last two and a half decades, Baishya was the Editor cum Publisher of Shankanath Weekly published from Banke.
Meanwhile, the Federation of Nepalis Journalist (FNJ) has expressed sorrow over the demise of senior journalist Baishya. The FNJ has said that the Nepali journalism sector has lost an experienced and fearless journalist, and has expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
