I am ready to fully cooperate in the investigation: Chief Minister Baniya

Kathmandu—Bagmati Province Chief Minister Indra Bahadur Baniya has expressed dissatisfaction over the raids conducted at his residence and office and has pledged to fully cooperate in the investigation process.

Issuing a press release on Monday, he expressed his objection to the sudden raids, saying he was always ready to personally assist state agencies if they deemed it necessary. “I will have my full support and cooperation in any investigation conducted within the constitutional and legal framework,” he said in the statement.

The Money Laundering Investigation Department (MLID) had raided his house in Hetauda and his offices in Naxal and Sundhara in Kathmandu on suspicion of illegal assets. Following the raid, Chief Minister Baniya claimed that he has been continuously working for good governance, transparency, and austerity.

According to him, the provincial government has been prioritizing expenditure control, a transparent budget system, and the implementation of needs-based plans in its work performance, which the general public is aware of, he said.

Stating that he has taken the investigation into his political and professional life positively, he said that he feels that the style of raiding has affected his personal and social reputation.

Similarly, he has made it clear that he will always be committed to serving the people, urging his well-wishers and the general public not to be misled. Although Baniya was previously involved in the construction business, it is said that he left the business after assuming public office.
