Kathmandu. The Nepal Bar Association has welcomed the move to register an impeachment motion against Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Rana. Chairman of the Nepal Bar Chandeshwor Shrestha welcomed the impeachment motion filed for the exit of the Chief Justice during the protest program on Sunday and claimed that it would be successful.
During the protest, Chairman Shrestha suggested not only Chief Justice Jabra but also other judges of various courts to improve themselves by stopping the work of intermediaries. Stating that other issues can be improved if the judiciary is reformed, Chairman Shrestha said that the Bar movement was not for the benefit of the people but for the betterment of the judiciary as a whole.
He said that the agitation would continue till the departure of the Chief Justice. Similarly, Chairman of the Supreme Court Purnaman Shakya said that the agitation would continue till the next Chief Justice is sworn in as the Chief Justice was not allowed to sit in the Supreme Court. Police in riot gear stormed a rally on Sunday, removing hundreds of protesters by truck.
