Chief Justice’s challenge to remove himself with a two-thirds majority

Kathmandu. Chief Justice Cholendra Shamsher Jabra, who was suspended after the impeachment motion was registered in the Parliament Secretariat, has been challenged to remove himself by a two-thirds majority.

Jawar, who was returning home after leaving the flag-waving vehicle at the apex court after the ruling coalition lawmaker filed the impeachment motion against him on Sunday, has given such a challenge while talking to his relatives. “The parties have started the constitutional process, now to reach two-thirds,” Jawara said. Although a two-thirds majority is needed to pass the impeachment by parliament, the ruling coalition does not have that seat.

The impeachment cannot be passed without the main opposition UML. The UML secretariat meeting on Sunday had made preliminary remarks against the impeachment motion.
