Kathmandu. The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has agreed to help build an oxygen plant at the Manmohan Smriti Community Hospital in Dakshinkali. Chief of the Public Health Department Hari Bahadur Kunwar and acting chairman of the hospital Purna Bahadur Shahi signed the agreement on behalf of the metropolis under the leadership of metropolitan Mayor Vidya Sundar Shakya and deputy Mayor Hari Prabha Khadgi Shrestha.
Speaking after the signing, Mayor Shakya mentioned the investment made by the metropolis in the health sector, adding that the one-time investment made by the Kathmandu metropolis for the treatment and prevention of covid was the most by the local government. “If anyone outside of Kathmandu needs specialist health care, they should come to Kathmandu. In this way, we are investing in increasing the capacity of the hospital for the convenience of those who come for treatment. We want no one to have to come to Kathmandu for treatment. Get treatment in your own place. This reduces the financial burden on the patient’s family. For this, the Kathmandu Metropolitan City is assisting in the improvement of health services outside the district, ”said Mayor Shakya.
By helping in this way, we found that the confidence of both the doctor and the patient has increased. According to Mayor Shakya, this confidence will help the disease to heal faster. He said that the metropolis has provided financial assistance of Rs. 10 million for the improvement of the famous religious Dakshinkali temple area in Dakshinkali and Rs. 10 million for the construction of green parks in public places.
In that context, the acting chairman of the hospital, Shahi, said that the patients of Lalitpur and Makwanpur, including Kathmandu, would be comfortable in treatment after Manmohan’s capacity was developed. As per the agreement, the metropolis will provide a grant of Rs 1.5 million to run the plant. The hospital will set up the plant by adding funds from other sources. Also, the hospital will have to audit the amount provided by the metropolis as per the prevailing system and submit the final report to the metropolis.
